Although Smoky Mountain Lakeside was only recently born, this story began long ago, in the heart of a boy from East Tennessee who, despite spending decades traveling all around our great country, never could find another place that felt “right”. But one day, however unlikely, a Georgia girl would make all his dreams come true, when by the Grace, Wisdom, and undeniable sense of humor of our Amazing God, a Bulldog and a Volunteer fell in love to bring together a house divided, and still so perfectly united.

After much prayer, deliberation, and more than a little bit of faith, we purchased our flagship property, Fort Sunsets, on gorgeous Douglas Lake in 2019.  We had both done a lot of traveling, throughout the U.S. and abroad; we’ve seen so many places, and had so many adventures, but home would always be HOME. Nothing out there compares to the quiet serenity of the rolling green hills and clear turquoise waters framed by the still, steadfast backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains. There is something about the calm, soothing magic of this place. A sense of contentment and peace settles over you, subtly but insistently whispering, “you’re HOME.” So, when it was time to decide where OUR home should be, the choice was not so very hard at all. Everyone should be so blessed as to know what an amazing area this part of East Tennessee really is.
